Annual
Plan Approved
NEW
DELHI : The Planning Commission
approved on September 3, 2002 the 2002-2003 Annual Plan
size of Rs. 1,533 crores for Uttaranchal, almost 46 percent
more than last year’s Plan size of Rs. 1,050 crores.
The Plan was approved at
a meeting here between the Deputy Chairman of the Planning
Commission, K.C. Pant, and the State Chief Minister, N.D.
Tiwari. The Commission also expressed concern at the State
Government’s plan to set up a road transport corporation,
especially at a time when all States were moving towards
privatisation of transport operations. Consequently, Uttaranchal
was requested to review its plans and instead encourage
competition among private operations.
In his presentation, Mr. Tiwari said suitable
measures would be taken to bridge the revenue deficit and
the Government would make all efforts to increase its resources
while keeping non-Plan revenue expenditure to the minimum.
