Rice
Scam : PCC Seeks Governor’s Intervention
HYDERABAD
: The Congress Party lodged a
protest complaint against the alleged misuse of food-for-work
rice with the active support and involvement of Telegu Desam
leaders. Congress leaders went in a delegation to Raj Bhavan
to seek the Governor’s intervention to put an end to what
they called the ‘loot’ of the rice made available by the
Central Government for the poor in the drought-hit areas.
The Congress delegation
to the Governor, led by the CWC member, Smt. B. Sarojini
Pulla Reddy, and the CLP leader, Shri Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy,
submitted a memorandum listing instances of misappropriation
of the rice.
Speaking on behalf of the Congress team,
Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy sought to impress upon the Governor
that the rice scam in the State was more serious than the
fodder scam and the defence deals, warranting a CBI inquiry.
"We have come to you as the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu
Naidu, has not responded to numerous reports and complaints
with an unassailable evidence," Dr. Reddy told the
Governor. The Governor, C. Rangarajan, gave a patient hearing
and assured them that he would look into the representation.
