Clears Resolution

DELHI: The extended meeting of the Congress Working
Committee (CWC) on 20th August went through and cleared
the four draft resolutions that would come up for discussion
and adoption at the one-day meeting of the All India
Congress Committee on 21 August at the Talkatora Indoor
Stadium. |

2004 congratulated Shri Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore
for winning the first historic Silver medal in shooting
for India at the Olympic Games at Athens.

Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi has on 18 August,
2004 appointed Shri Peerzada Mohd. Sayeed, as President
of the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee
with immediate effect, in place of Shri Ghulam Nabi
Azad who had expressed his desire to relinquish the
post of the PCC President, according to AICC general
secretary and organisation incharge, Shri Janardan Dwivedi. |

Continue Hold on DUSU

NEW
DELHI: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI)
made almost a clean sweep in the Delhi University
Students’ Union (DUSU) elections on 4 September. NSUI
won three of the four DUSU seats. Shri Barinder Tokas
won the president’s post while former DUSU secretary,
Shri Ashok Basoya won the vice-presidents post. Ms.
Amrita Dawan won the post of secretary. The post of
joint-secretary was bagged by ABVP’s Gaurav Khari.
The
victorious NSUI team after their victory called on
the Congress president, Smt. Sonia Gandhi who congratulated
them on their win.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Shri Oommen Chandy was sworn in as 19th Chief Minister of
Kerala on 1st September, 2004. The Governor, Shri R.L. Bhatia,
administered the oath of office at the Raj Bhawan.
Shri
Chandy succeeded Shri A.K. Antony, who resigned after taking
moral responsibility for the debacle of the party in parliamentary
elections. Shri Chandy was unanimously elected the Congress
Legislature Party leader in the presence of AICC observers,
Shri Pranab Mukherjee and Smt. Margaret Alva. AICC general
secretary, Shri Ahmed Patel and CWC Special Invitee, Shri
Anil Shastri were also present.
