Through the Eyes of Cartoonists

Thanks to the Shimla Sankalp, the entire Congress Party all over the country plunged into action. In most states Party units have organized August 9 Kranti Yatras and are following it up with rallies and public meetings to expose the parties in power in the non-Congress states. In Andhra Pradesh where the CLP leader, Dr. Y. Rajasekhara Reddy organized a 1,500-km padayatra covering the length and breadth of the State, the district party units are busy exposing the misdeeds of the TDP government and fighting for causes of farmers and wage earners. In the states that are going to the polls, election campaign has already begun. In Delhi, Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi flagged off the poll campaign with a spirited speech at Bawana in North-West Delhi. Reports of the giant Congress machinery moving into action in other States too have begun coming in. There is an alround realization that the ensuing Assembly polls are very crucial for the victory of the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections next year.
