BJP : Natwar Singh
JAMSHEDPUR:
Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister, Shri
K. Natwar Singh, at a function exhorted the Congress workers
to expose the wrong policies of the BJP. Shri Singh said
here on September 8 that only Congress can protect democracy.
Congress workers should take inspiration from our own history.
Congress Central Election Committee member and former Union
Minister, Shri L.P. Shahi, who also spoke said the BJP is
not doing justice towards Jharkhand and has defeated the
purpose for which it was carved out.

member and senior state leader, Shri Rajesh Kumar Shukla
welcomed Shri Natwar Singh and Shri L.P. Shahi and said
that the Congress workers of the state feel encouraged by
the visit of these leaders. Former Jharkhand PCC president,
Shri Pradeep Kumar Balmachu, Shri Ramashray Prasad, Shri
Hariballabh Singh Arcee, Shri Gopal Prasad, Shri Ashok Chaudhary,
Shri Shamim Alam, Smt. Shafa Sheikh, Shri Ravish Kumar Seghal
and others were present at the function.
Lawyers
should Counter False &
Divisive Propaganda: Sonia Gandhi
BHOPAL:
Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi has expressed hope
that the lawyers of Madhya Pradesh will do all they can
to counter the false and dangerously divisive propaganda
of the BJP and Sangh Parivar.
Smt.
Gandhi expressed this view in her message to the Legal Cell
of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee on the occasion of
its state convention, which was held here on 7th September.
Smt. Gandhi said _ "Lawyers enjoy a special position
and influence in our society. With the Assembly elections
just a few weeks away, I hope they will use their eloquence
and persuasive powers to make widely-known the remarkable
achievements of the Madhya Pradesh government, especially
in the field of social development and to bring to the notice
the failures of the NDA government."
Smt.
Gandhi said, "as responsible and respected citizens,
I hope, the lawyers present at the convention will join
hands with the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee to ensure
that the elections are held in an atmosphere of peace and
communal harmony, with widespread participation of the public".
Shinde
Visits Akola
AKOLA:
The Maharashtra CM, Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde visited
the Congress office situated at Koleshwar specially made
for public relations here on 12 September. Shri Shinde inaugurated
the office by garlanding the statues of Indira Gandhi and
Rajiv Gandhi. the function was presided over by the City
Congress president, Shri Madan Bhargad who apprised Shri
Shinde, about their activities. Shri Shinde exhorted the
party workers to go amongst the people and tell them about
the anti-people policies of the BJP-led NDA government.
Shri Shinde asked the Congress workers to take pledge that
they shall not rest untill the Congress comes to power at
the Centre and Smt. Sonia Gandhi is installed as our prime
minister.

Local Body Polls
BHUBANESWAR:
The elections to the 96 urban local bodies in Orissa has
thrown up a fractured verdict. Out of the 1,624 wards for
which elections were held on 19 September the Congress bagged
502. In 24 urban bodies, the Congress wrested 19.
