Jagran Rallies Expose BJP-led Government
The
Congress Party all over the country witnessed vibrant activity
and dynamism as state, district and mandal units took out
Jan Jagran rallies, organized dharnas and presented memorandum
against the BJP-led NDA government following the directive
contained in the message of the Congress president, Smt.
Sonia Gandhi at the Shimla Vichar Manthan Shivir.
Senior
leaders took initiative as thousands of party workers and
the cadre of the frontal organisations explained to the
people the acts of omission and commission committed by
the BJP-led NDA government and placed before them the Congress
policies, programme and its achievements.
HYDERABAD:
Under the leadership of Shri M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, president,
Hyderabad City Congress Committee, a massive procession
was organized on September 30 to protest against the countless
scams of TDP/NDA Governments. The rally commenced from Gandhi
Bhavan and culminated at Abids, Hyderabad where several
party leaders addressed the gathering.
Thousands
of Party workers comprising frontal organisations, various
party Cells/ Deptts, trade unions, municipal corporators
and the office-bearers of City Congress Committee participated
in the rally. The procession was led by Shri Y.S. Rajasekhar
Reddy, CLP leaders, and Shri M. Satyanarayana Rao, ex-President
APCC, Shri M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, president, Hyderabad City
Congress Committee, Shri D. Vittal Rao, who addressed the
gathering and demanded the State/ Central governments to
bring the culprits to book in several scams.
WARANGAL:
The Warangal City Congress Committee organised the Jan
Jagran rally to highlight the anti-people policies of the
Centre and State governments here on 30 September. The Congress
workers took out the protest march and held protest dharna
in front of the Telephone Bhawan. Later a memorandum was
handed over to the district manager asking actions against
the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and the TDP governments.
KURUKSHETRA:
The Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee led by its president
and former chief minister, Shri Bhajan Lal staged a massive
rally in Halka Pehwa city of the district on 30 September
to show their anger and protest against the corrupt state
government and the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
Others present were former Union Minister, Shri Buta Singh,
AICC secretary, Shri Jaikishen with local MLAs and party
office-bearers.
In
this Jan Jagran Rally, the speakers attacked the Central
and the State governments for their anti-people policies
and the scams committed by them. The message of the Congress
president, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, which she delivered at the
Shimla Convention and the programme and the policies of
the Congress party were explained to the people.
Shri
Bhajan Lal said the Chautala government has with its false
promises made during the elections has only brought dispair
to the people of Haryana. "No body is happy as most
of the people are on the verge of starvation as they are
without jobs," he said. Unless jobs are created for
the people they may take the extreme steps of committing
suicide, he added.
Shri
Buta Singh came down heavily on the Central government and
said that the BJP-led NDA government was busy selling off
healthy and profit-making public sector units to private
companies. Shri Buta Singh said these public sector companies
were built over the years by the efforts of the Congress
government. He accused the present Central government for
dividing the people on caste lines. Shri Jaikishen said
the development of the Haryana state and the country can
be done only under the Congress government led by Smt. Sonia
Gandhi as she understands the pulse of the people and the
poor in particular.
JALANDHAR:
The Congress workers came out on the roads here on 30 September
and staged a demonstration and dharna in front of the Central
Government offices against the anti-people policies of the
BJP-led NDA government. The demonstration was led by the
District Congress Committee president, Shri Tejinder Singh
Bittu, and the District Rural Congress pradhan, Shri Rajinder
Singh Baba.
According
to DCC vice-president, Shri Naresh Kumar Gupta, those who
participated in the programme included Shri Balbir Singh,
MP, Punjab government Parliamentary secretary, Shri Gurvinder
Singh Atwal, Raj Kumar Gupta, MLA, District Board chairman,
Ch. Surinder Singh, Rural Mahila Congress president, Smt.
Anju Duggal, City Mahila Congress president, Smt. Sushma
Gautam, all block presidents and all panch and sarpanchs
of the district.
DEHRADUN:
The City Congress Committee staged a dharna in front of
District Collector's office here on 30 September under the
Jan Jagran programme to make the people aware of the anti-people
policies of the BJP-led NDA government and exposed the scams,
unemployment situation, corrupt practices and communal hatred
perpetrated by the BJP government. The protest rally, led
by City Congress president, Shri Lalchand Sharma, collected
at the Congress Bhawan and thousands of Congress workers
then marched to the District Collector's office where they
staged the protest dharna and later handed over a memorandum
to the District Collector addressed to the President of
India and asked for the dismissal of the BJP-led NDA government.
BARIELLY:
The Uttar Pradesh Congress Backward Class Department organized
the Jan Jagran (people's awareness) programme in which the
workers left for the AICC headquarters in New Delhi from
Lucknow after passing through all the districts of the state
and on their way make the people aware of the anti-people
policies of the BJP-led NDA government and to tell the people
about the Congress policies and its achievements. The rally
arrived here on 24 September and were given a rousing welcome.
Former
minister and AICC Member, Shri Praveen Singh Aroon and ex-MLA,
Shri Chhote Lal Gangawar rode cycle to boost the morale
of the rally cyclists. Addressing the rally, Shri Gangawar
said that during the time when backward class was with the
Congress, it ruled the country and now with most of them
enticed by other parties, it has benefited neither the backward
class people nor the Congress party. Therefore, it is high
time that the backward class people and all the downtrodden
should come together under the Congress flag and strengthen
the hands of the Congress president, Smt. Sonia Gandhi so
that the Congress comes back to power at the Centre.
