The election campaign is in full swing. The five Assembly elections that are due to be held shortly in Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Rajasthan are critical in the context of the Lok Sabha polls scheduled for next year. For the Congress Party and its workers, this is a great opportunity to go to the people once again and explain the damage the BJP-led NDA government has inflicted on the country. It is also an opportunity to channelise the alround disillusionment of the people with the ruling coalition at the Centre, and the BJP in particular. The BJP has taken severe beating at the hustings repeatedly in State elections since the NDA coalition assumed power at the Centre. It is nervous and desperate and will try to reverse the mood of the masses by offering all kinds of emotional and even religious baits and slogans. The Congress workers would have to be cautious and be on the look out to expose promptly the old habits of the BJP. The Congress workers must arm themselves with facts and figures, which are in plenty and issues to create awareness among voters. The Congress Party and its workers must not lower their guard and campaign spiritedly to win.
