The
Congress Working Committee places on record its profound
sorrow and grief at the tragic and untimely death of Shri
Madhavrao Scindia in an aeroplane crash on 30 September.
His
passing away is a stunning blow to our Party, of which he
was an outstanding, charismatic, vastly popular, widely
respected member. He was an exemplary deputy leader of Parliamentary
Party. There is an empty place today on our political horizon.
In
his death, the country has lost a dynamic leader, an inspiring
Parliamentarian. He came to Parliament at the age of 26
and remained a member for 30 consecutive years.
His
memorable stewardship of the Railway Ministry will now pass
into legend. By resigning as Civil Aviation Minister, as
a matter of principle, he raised the level of our political
dialogue.
His
contributions to our deliberations in the Congress Working
Committees were always stimulating and high-minded. As one
of our star campaigners he was always in great demand. We
salute his memory.
The
Congress Working Committee sends its heartfelt condolences
to Smt. Scindia and members of her family. No words of ours
can console her at this time. All we can say is that her
grief is shared throughout the length and breadth of our
country.
The
Congress Working Committee places on record its deep
sense of sorrow and anguish at the untimely and tragic death
of young and well-known media persons who accompanied Shri
Madhavrao Scindia on the special flight to Kanpur : Shri
Ranjan Jha and cameraman Gopal Bisht from Aaj Tak, Sanjiv
Sinha, a prominent journalist of the Indian Express and
Ms. Anju Sharma of the Hindustan Times.
The
Congress Working Committee also condoles the tragic death
of Shri Rupinder Singh, a Youth Congress activist closely
working with Shri Scindia as also Shri Gautam Ray and Ms.
Ritu Malik the two pilots of the ill-fated flight.
