The election of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi as Congress President will go down in the annals of this oldest and largest political party as a unique and historic milestone. The party has accepted her with record majority in an election that was fought well. The 7848-strong electoral college has also shown that unlike other parties Congress practices what it preaches - internal democracy.
