The
month of November occupies an important place not only in
the history of the Congress Party, but also in the contemporary
history of India. It was in this month that Pandit Jawaharlal
Nehru and Smt. Indira Gandhi were born. These two leaders
had laid the path for independent India. Their deep comprehension
of India, the world and their thorough understanding of
the hope and aspirations of the people of India is reflected
in the policies they formulated. These policies which stood
the test of the time continue to be the guiding light and
a tradition for the Party. Smt. Sonia Gandhi continues this
tradition. These policies brought prosperity to India, helped
improve literacy and health care. Still, there is a lot
to be done, as Smt. Sonia Gandhi says repeatedly. Accomplishment
of these tasks without disturbing democracy calls for imagination,
dedication and hard work at all levels. The party organization
at every level needs to participate effectively in this
great drive. Pradesh Congress Committees have a tremendous
responsibility to ensure this.
