The Parivartan yatra the Congress party took out in Uttar Pradesh last month was a big success. Infact it was beyond the expectations of many. As Smt. Sonia Gandhi said in her spirited speech at the Lucknow rally, held to mark the conclusion of the first phase of the Yatra, those who claimed that the Congress was ‘written off’ in Uttar Pradesh were deeply disappointed.

The turnout at the numerous public meetings held throughout the sprawling state was uniformly overwhelming. Parivartan yatra was perhaps the biggest the party has launched in the recent past. The response of the people proved beyond doubt that they are fed-up with the BJP rule. Smt. Sonia Gandhi rightly declared "time has come for a change in UP". And the people of UP are looking towards the Congress to deliver them from the clutches of the BJP.
