Letter to Congress Workers

Jan Sampark Abhiyan Paid Off

The Jan Sampark Abhiyan by the Congress president, Smt. Sonia Gandhi has made tremendous impact on the people who have now changed their opinion of supporting BJP in the current Lok Sabha elections. I am confident that Congress will once again come to power at the Centre with the help of her allies. Now it is for the Congress president to set the house in order by stopping in-fighting in the party and discipline them in creating a better image of the party.

Indebted to Sonia Gandhi

If Congress comes to power in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, the Congressmen should thank the party president, Smt. Sonia Gandhi. It is through her efforts that the party has once again come to the top. The party workers are indebted to Smt. Sonia Gandhi for putting the party in a respectable position and stand unitedly behind the Congress president.

BJP Exposed Itself

I am sure the Congress and its allies will win with majority in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections and shall form the government at the Centre. The BJP-led NDA has proved a failure due to its anti-people policies and shall face defeat at the hustings. There is no more `feel good' effect of the BJP in the minds of people, particularly the poor and the middle class people. Even the youth is not impressed by the BJP campaign and they will not vote for it. The BJP and its allies have harmed the nation and the people who have seen the misdeeds of the BJP leaders taking bribes during the Tehelka exposure which was witnessed by the people in India and abroad.

Gen. Secretary, DCCI, Jalandhar, Punjab.

Victory for Secularism

The Congress Party's comeback at the Centre has once again reinforced the belief that the people of the country cannot be easily swayed by fascist forces. The secular character of the Congress has won the confidence of a cross-section of people. Smt. Sonia Gandhi carried this message untiringly and successfully. Unity, integrity and independence of our country can be maintained only when people of all classes, castes and religions enjoy equal status and opportunities to progress.

Any discrimination as attempted by BJP and RSS can only put our unity under stress, leaving the whole country to suffer the consequences.

I am glad to see Congress at the Centre again. The party has never compromised on issue of secularism and it should never.

Manufacturing Sector

India has been banking too much on service sector. While this sector is certainly needed for rapid economic development, the role of manufacturing sector cannot be ignored for viable widespread growth. If employment generation has not been satisfactory in the last ten years despite appreciable economic growth, it is largely due to sluggish manufacturing sector growth, which alone can generate jobs on a large scale. I hope when the Congress Party comes to power at the Centre, this aspect will be taken care of.

NDA Slogan to Fool People

The article `Vajpayee Govt.: a Saga of Sins, Scams and Shame' that appeared in Congress Sandesh (March 2004), is an eye opener. The scams that surfaced while the NDA Govt. was in power set a record. Not only the security of the country was compromised but also the norms of democracy were trampled.

The NDA Govt's slogan `India-shining' is just to fool the people. What the NDA does not realise is that it cannot fool the people.
