Letter
to Congress Workers
Focus
on Lok Sabha Elections
The
focus of all political parties presently is on the coming
Lok Sabha elections. The Congress president, Smt. Sonia
Gandhi has completed five years in office and during this
period the Congress party has made remarkable success. The
grassroot workers are enthusiastic and inspired by the recent
National Convention of the Block and District presidents
in New Delhi. Now, the day is not far off when Smt. Sonia
Gandhi will be the prime minister of our country.

Fine
Changes
We
are very happy to learn the fine changes in the Congress
team at the time of election in four states. This shows
Smt. Sonia Gandhi’s mature statesmanship. She has given
right job to the right person. By applying ‘forget and forgive’
policy in Kerala she has taken the right action. Her prudent
and wise action will help the party win in Lok Sabha election.

Remembering
Rajivji
Rajiv
Gandhi was the scion of India’s premier political family.
God had bestowed him with chrisma. He was adorable and a
source of inspiration and a strict disciplinarian, humble
to the core and a modest man full of confidence. Rajiv was
the embodiment of modern politician pledged to lead the
country into the 21st century and to modernise India. He
laid great emphasis on technology.
Rajiv
was a "visual reader". He was a very relaxed man
with a sharp wit and tremendous capacity for humour. He
was very friendly and secular. He strongly believed that
technology held the key to India’s problems of development.
He understood technology in the larger sense as a means
of resolving the problem of development. His thoughts, deeds,
work and convictions will be remembered by all.

Call
The
Conference of Block Congress Presidents in New Delhi on
28th and 29th March and ‘Desh Bachao Rally’ at Ramlila Maidan
on 30th March have boosted the morale of Congress workers.
The inspiring speech of Smt. Sonia Gandhi has made them
aware of the action plan that lies ahead of them. They are
very enthusiastic about it.
Jharkhand
has not had Panchayat and Municipal elections so far since
the inception of the state. Panchayat Raj a dream of our
beloved leader Rajiv Gandhi has not been fulfilled so far
in this state.
The
people in villages are suffering from lack of potable water
and electricity. In the last two and a half years the NDA
Jharkhand Government had electrified only 700 villages out
of promised 5,000 villages. The 13.4 percent of state population
are without homes and live like nomads. 80 percent area
of the state is under extremist grip resulting in murders
everyday. Prime Minister’s Fund for Road Construction amounting
to Rs. 110 crore could not be utilised in time. Assistance
fund for industries of Rs. 100 crore met the same fate as
only Rs. 10 crore could be spent out of it. As can be imagined
under the circumstances unemployment is rampant and external
industrial investment is nil.
Smt.
Sonia Gandhi had played a decisive role in the formation
of Jharkhand State but the purpose for which the bifurcation
was done has not been fulfilled. People see her with hope.
The Congress organisation in Jharkhand has to be strengthened
to exploit the opportunity to its fullest.

Follow-up
Action
The
Block and District Congress Committee president’s conference
has set the stage for the forthcoming elections. The suggestions,
such as setting up of training camps at district level,
organising workers’ conferences and rallies to highlight
the NDA Government’s anti-poor policies should begin in
right earnest.

Spread
Sandesh
Congress Sandesh provides useful information
regarding the Party’s activities and programmes. It needs
to be popularized from block to village level. In this way,
it will strengthen the hands of Soniaji and the Congress
organisation.
