Minorities Will Be Looked After : ND Tiwari

DEHRADUN : The Uttaranchal Chief Minister, Shri Narayan Dutt Tiwari, assured the minority community of setting up various bodies to look after their benefits in accordance with the electoral manifesto. Shri Tiwari, who was the chief guest, was addressing a seminar on 5 April at the Dehradun Municipal Corporation Auditorium which was organised by the District Congress Committee. The topic of the seminar was "Minority problem in Uttaranchal".

According to the District Congress president, Shri MN Farooqi, the chief minister has assured the minorities setting-up of Waqf Board, Haj Committee, Minority Commission in accordance to the pre-poll promises. He called upon the people of Uttaranchal to prepare themselves to face the challenges of the 21st century. Shri Tiwari said that the government is likely to acquire a Rs. 800 crore loan at low interest to commence the Maneri Bhali Project.

The Chief Minister said that he has not forgotten his pre-poll promises and assured that though it was a herculian task to fulfill those promises, the basic efforts in this direction have been started.

The Chief Minister said that at present Uttaranchal gets power upto 20 hours a day but we are trying to end the power cuts soon. We would produce more power so that we might supply it to others too after fulfilling our own needs, he added. Shri Tiwari said that old transformers are being replaced all over the state.

The Chief Minister said that developmental works have been started in Haridwar also and assured that there would be no step-motherly treatment of the people of Haridwar. He reiterated that tourism is a big source of income for the people of the state and the government will do everything for its development. He said that the condition of the roads within the State would also be improved.

Pramod Tiwari re-elected UP CLP Leader

LUCKNOW : Pramod Tiwari was on 28 April re-elected as the leader of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Legislature Party (CLP) for the fourth consecutive term.

AICC treasurer and incharge, Uttar Pradesh Motilal Vora said that Mr. Tiwari was elected by a "Consensus" in the presence of 22 of the 25 party MLAs.

While Mr. Jagdambika Pal proposed the name of Mr. Tiwari, Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav seconded it.

 

JHARKHAND

‘NDA has Failed’

GIRIDIH (Jharkhand) : A one-day District Panchayat Conference of the Giridih district was held here on 18 March at the Congress Bhavan. The District Congress president, Dr. Pradyuman Kumar Singh presided over the function. District panchayat presidents, block presidents, office-bearers, Shri Tilakdhari Prasad Singh, MP, Jharkhand State Congress Committee vice-president and district incharge, Shri Naval Kishore Singh, JSCC secretary and district incharge, Smt. Jiyamani Marandi, JSCC special invitee member, Shri Ram Gopal Bhuvania, former MLA, Shri Jyotindra Prasad and former Councillor, Shri Bageshwar Prasad Singh and other Congress leaders participated in the conference. The conference resolved to strengthen the party organisation, to unitedly fight the panchayat elections. The Kodarma MP, Shri Tilakdhari Prasad Singh, called upon the party workers to prepare themselves for the panchayat elections to be held shortly.
