 This
has been an eventful month. The political crisis in Bihar
followed by a constitutional deadlock in Jharkhand have
showed up the vagaries of democracy heating up the political
climate as the wild Indian summer announced its arrival.
On the other hand a peaceful 75th anniversary of famous
Dandi March of Mahatma Gandhi proved that India is truly
a nation of diversities merging into unity. In a visionary
move the Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, decided
to re-enact the March rousing tremendous enthusiasm among
not only the Congressmen but also the common people. She
flagged off the March from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad
regenerating the spirit of the freedom movement in the country
that is now fighting to free itself from poverty, illiteracy
and deprivation. In time the Union Finance Minister, Shri
P. Chidambaram presented a budget which sought to break
the shackles of the downtrodden while promoting development.
