JAIPUR
: The AICC general secretary,
Mr. Mahavir Prasad, Mr. Oscar Fernandes and Rajasthan PCC
president, Dr. Girija Vyas, in one voice criticised the
act of barbarism in Gujarat and said that the state government
and the BJP-regime at the Centre were responsible for this
lawlessness, according to the Rajasthan PCC secretary, Mr.
Suraj Khatri.
Inaugurating a training
camp in Alwar district, Mr. Mahavir Prasad said that BJP
and their leaders have no faith in democracy and secularism.
That was why they did not make any effort to stop killing
and burning and also delayed the deployment of the Army.
Mr. Mahavir Prasad congratulated
the Rajasthan PCC president, Dr. Girija Vyas, and the Congress
president, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, for starting the camp on the
International Women’s Day and said that by their initiative
the women will come to the forefront.
Mr. Oscar Fernandes, who
unfurled the Tricolour at the training camp, said the biggest
problem facing the country today was from fanaticism and
communalism which are threatening our very existence which
can only be promoted through social equality and harmony.
While recalling the 116
years of Congress history, Dr. Girija Vyas said that Congress
has made supreme sacrifices for the nation. Bhagat Singh,
Subhash Chander Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and
Rajiv Gandhi laid down their lives for the good of the nation.
The Congress party is committed to development, universal
brotherhood and democracy.
On the second day, criticising
the ugly communal violence in Gujarat, Mr. Gehlot appealed
to all Congressmen to work together to create an atmosphere
of secularism and respect for all religions.
The trained workers can also play a vital
role during the election time by successfully enforcing
the party’s strategy at the husting. In this three-day camp
a resolution was passed making an appeal to the people of
the country to keep their cool and maintain an atmosphere
of brotherhood.
