I congratulate, the Congress president, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, for the victory of the Congress party in Punjab, Uttranchal and Manipur state Assembly polls and by-elections. The people have given their mandate in favour of the Congress under the leadership of Soniaji against the NDA government at the Centre.

Forward Step

Under Smt. Sonia Gandhi’s leadership, the mass base of the Congress party has increased within all the states of the country. Today, Congress governs in 14 States of the country while the BJP and NDA graph is rapidly sliding. It indicates that there will be a Congress government at the Centre under Sonia’s leadership. Congress is not only a national party but represents the culture of the great India which has a golden history. The Congress party has been following the path shown by its great leaders like, Mahatma Gandhi, Nehruji, Netaji, Shastriji, Maulana Azad, Indiraji and Rajivji. It is but the Congress leader, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, who can stand against the communal forces and talk of unity in diversity, as for this, her whole family has sacrificed everything.

City Cleansing

Congress workers led by Shri Kamal Singh Baidhak, president, Block Congress Committee, Kumbir, Distt. Bharatpur carried out the cleaning of city drains and all encroachments on 6 February in association with local officials and Tehsildar.

BJP Conspiracy

By secretly directing its frontal organisations to organise the ‘Bharat Bandh’ after the presentation of the anti-people budget, the BJP-led NDA government has cynically managed in avoiding the anger and protests by the common man. The BJP activists have also disturbed the peaceful atmosphere of the country by giving cheap, filthy and hatred-filled slogans during the bandh which again has hurt the feelings of the people.

Charming and Attractive

The cover page of the January, 2002 issue of Congress Sandesh is charming and attractive. The letter to Congress workers by our party President, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, is very encouraging to the youth. The articles in the journal are good. The write-up on the elections, the cartoon page are interesting. The AICC diary is very useful to Congress workers. So is feature on Congress Sessions. I hope the journal will continue forever.

Competent Medium
