As Smt. Sonia Gandhi said the communal carnage that rocked
Gujarat and some other states could have been avoided, if
the BJP-run government at the Centre so wanted. What the
country had witnessed in the last one month is extremely
disturbing and calls for serious introspection as to where
we, as people, are going. The communal clashes have brought
a bad name to the country all over the world. No wonder,
the tourist arrivals have gone down by 17 percent and what
is more, foreign companies have begun pulling out of Indian
stock exchanges. If like-minded parties do not come together
to end the disastrous rule of the BJP, the nation will pay
a heavy price.
