Homage to Nehru

DPCC organised a function to pay homage to Pd. Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary

NEW DELHI : The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee organised a meeting here on 27 May to commemorate the 38th death anniversary of the first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Speaking on the occasion, various leaders praised Pandit Nehru for the sacrifices he made during the freedom struggle and the pioneering steps he took to modernise and industrialise India and establish it as a major power during the post-Independence period.

Nation pays homage to Sanjay Gandhi on his death anniversary on 23 June.

A large number of party leaders and workers paid floral tributes at the portrait of Nehru.

Kotputli Block Congress workers, also organised a prayer meeting and paid floral tributes to nation's first Prime Minister Pd. Jawaharlal Nehru death anniversary. The former Kotputli MLA Ramchandra Rawat, Block Congress president Hansraj Patel, Block Congress convenor Kishan Bansal, secretary Harchand Advocate, Jagdish Choudhary, Balvir Yadav, Manjeet Kaur and several others were present.

Rajiv's Statue Installed

UJJAIN : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, unveiled a lifesize statue of the former Prime Minister, Shri Rajiv Gandhi at the Rajiv Gandhi Chowk, Pipali Naka here on 2 May. It was installed by Ujjain Development Authority. State Congress president Mr. Radha Kishan Malviya, vice-president Shri Mahavir Prasad Vashishtha, Minister of Labour Shri Doman Singh Nagpure, Ujjain (North) MLA Mr. Rajendra Bharati, Ujjain (South) MLA Smt. Preeti Bhargav and Ujjain Development Authority Chairman Shri Raj Hajur Singh Gaur were present on the occasion.

Rajiv Gandhi Remembered

A yatra was organised by Congress workers to mark late Rajiv Gandhi�s death anniversary in Delhi

NEW DELHI : The Rashtriya Navyug Manav Kalyan Parishad, under the presidentship of Shri Kapoor Singh Chhikara took out a large procession on 21 May as a mark of homage to Rajiv Gandhi on his 12th death anniversary.

People from all communities participated in the procession which passed through Bindapur village, Bindapur Extension, Harijan Basti, Anoop Nagar, Jeewan Park, Chanakya Place, Pratap Ganden, Bindapur J.J. Colony in West Delhi.

Shri Kapoor said that Shri Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed his life fighting terrorism, communalism and for the unity of the country. The processionists also observed two-minute silence remembering Rajiv Gandhi and the people who died in Gujarat violence.

Rajiv True Friend of the Poor

BUNDI : On May 21, the District Congress Committee organised the death anniversary of Shri Rajiv Gandhi. Paying tributes to the late Prime Minister, Mr. Ramnarayan Meena said that Shri Rajiv Gandhi was a true friend of the poor and he was not only a national but international leader too. Had he been alive today, the country would not have been facing such a serious situation. He said the Congress opposes terrorism and that is why the Congress president Mrs. Sonia Gandhi has assured the Prime Minister of all out help in the national interest.

He expressed concern over the rising communal tension in the country. "The way fanatic forces are engaged in tearing apart the secular fabric of the country, it reflects that the Prime Minister is not taking proper measures to contain them." District Chief Shri Shrinath Singh had said it is because of this leader's initiative that Panchayati Raj has been materialised.

Those who spoke on the occasion included PCC member Gulam Jilani Guddu Kedari, Ramder Gochar, district Congress Committee general secretary Mukesh Dadih, NSUI activist Shailesh Dadih, Block president Babulal Verma, Yudhraj Soni, Nawed Kaisar, Istiyal Ali, Suresh Kothri. Later, all religion prayer meeting for communal peace was held and planting of tree saplings was undertaken as a mark of tribute to Shri Rajiv Gandhi.
