LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Let Woman Be President

On July 24, 2002 Kocheril Raman Narayanan will lay down the office as the 11th President of India and all political parties are likely to ensure that the person who may become President should be their `own man'.

As the search for the 12th President of India gathers pace, one thing is certain. Prime Minister is ensuring that the next President should be someone who owes his office to him. Since the office of the Vice-President is also up for election, the Prime Minister has room for manoeuver.

After 50 years we don't have a single female President. We talk about the greatness of women, but at the same time we are not ready to give chance to any woman for President or Vice-President post. I want to ask all political parties that when will they give up this kind of attitude towards women?

Honest Statement

"The status of our Congress Party in Uttar Pradesh is because of our own fault, because of the leaders' negligence but now the time has come to rectify those mistakes, to come above all odds and unitedly fight the communal forces ..."

These words by Congress President Sonia Gandhi clearly indicate that she is feeling the pulse of an ordinary party worker and when the thinking of the Party President and the party worker is alike then there is no question of looking back. Under Smt. Sonia Gandhi's leadership, I am confident that our Party will soon get back its lost identity in Uttar Pradesh.

Faith in Congress

The Congress Sandesh magazine is a good medium between the party workers and which also enlightens them. People have developed more trust in the Congress which was evident from the MCD polls in Delhi. The Congress party, which cares for the people, has brought together all the party leaders after the attack on Parliament. I firmly believe that soon Congress will be successful in its goal to govern the nation.

Councillors' Victory hailed

All India Rajbhar Mahasabha congratulates all 108 Congress winners in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections and the Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Rajbhar Mahasabha believes that people of Delhi by providing landslide victory to Congress, have proved that only the Congress party under the leadership of Soniaji could control price rise, unemployment and destruction of Delhi.

All India Rajbhar Mahasabha also believes that only the Congress Party could ensure country's economic growth, modernization and poverty alleviation.

Increase

Readership

I read Congress Sandesh regularly. For making grassroot workers aware it is necessary to increase its readership. I want to caution Soniaji against leaders who are making money in the name of Congress as it is shameful and annoys party workers.

BJP Shunned

India needs Sonia Gandhi's leadership as Prime Minister when our country is facing so many problems. The BJP has no reputation and is being rejected by the people of the country. Meanwhile, the Congress Sandesh has a unique bond which joins Congress workers from North to South. I wish all the best to the Party journal.
