: The Congress has demanded the resignation of the Union Home
Minister, Mr L.K. Advani as the bailable arrest warrant has been
issued against him by the Gwalior Bench of the MP High Court.
"The Home Minister must resign on the moral grounds,"
said Mr. Ajit Jogi, party spokesman. The case, filed by Mr. Surya
Prakash Joshi, a social worker from MP, alleged that Mr. Advani
has filed two affidavits the same day claiming to be a resident
of Gwalior in MP and also of Gujrat. Mr. Jogi said the case was
also going on under section 31 of the Representation of the People
Act, along with sections 193, 197, 199, 200 and 202 of the Indian
penal Code.
Mr. Jogi said the BJP had always pretended to occupy the high moral
ground, and in view of the warrant against Mr. Advani it should
ensure that he quit office in order to maintain the high democratic
norms and traditions.

: The Congress has condemed the Afsar village massacre in Bihar,
in which 11 members of particular community were done to death.
Calling for the arrest of those responsible of the killing, the
spokesman Mr. Ajit Jogi, pointed out that in the party's opinion
theses killings were not a law and order problem. It has more to
do with the Socio-Economic problem in the state and efforts were
needed to address this as well.

Congress has said that the in which J&K Chief Minister and the
Centre were handling the autonomy demand "could lead to internationisation
of Kashmir issue." Accusing the Centre and Dr. Abdulla of being
totally at odds on such sensitive matter, the party spokesman, Mr.
Anil Shastri, urged the Prime Minister to come forward and spell
out the Govt.'s stand. The Congress leaders urged the NDA allies
to spell out the Govt.'s stand on Dr. Abdulla's suggestion of greater
autonomy of the state.

: The Congress has ruled out the withdrawal of support to the
RJD govt. in Bihar, stating that it was not a solution to the prevailing
social tension. It has however asked the Bihar Chief Minister to
convene an all-party meeting to discusss the situation.
He said Ms. Kidwai and former Gujrat Chief Minister, Mr. Madhavsinh
Solanki, will also participate in a meeting of the RJD-led coalition's
coordinatation committee to be held on the June 21 where the law
and order situation was excepted to be assessed at length..

: The Congress has accused the BJP and the National Conference
(NC) of allowing their lust of power to dictate their attitude towards
the question of granting autonomy to J&K.
Reiterating its opposition to the autonomy report, the Congress
alleged the BJP-led Govt for its alleged doublespeak on the issue.
Mr. Jogi also lampooned the Centre, especially the Prime Minister
and the Home Minister foe creating a piquant situation in the State.
He clarified that his party was not opposed to the devotion of power
to the States but to the particular reports and its timing.
Mr. Jogi said the autonomy package as visualised in the report would
lead to the division of the State on communal lines. "It is

: The Congress felt vindicated that the Cabinet had rejected
the autonomy resolution, but pointed out that issue exposed many
contradictions in the Govt's stand.Mr. Ajit Jogi, said that it could
not be ignored that the NC was an integral constituent of NDA. Mr.

voices and creating confusion over J&K autonomy issue. Mr. Anand
Sharma said the mishandling of the issue by the govt. has led other
states to make similar demands. In fact, he would not put it past
the govt. to have actually orchestrated these demands.

: Condeming the remarks of the Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray,
that the country was being ruled by idiots and J&K chief Minister
should be put behind bars, the congress said the statement were
fanatical and challenged the secular character of the integrity
of the country.
The
Congress spokesman, Mr Anil Shastri, expressedshock over the silence
of NDA partners on these remarks. he also said that Mr. thackeray
was putting tremendous pressure on the BJP to take on the congress-NCP
govt. in maharastra..

vajpayee govt. was being remote controlled by the RSS and Shiv sena.
Referrring to Mr. Bal Thackery's statement in which he branded those
running the govt. a bunch of idiots and the subsequent visits to
him by Mr. L.K.Advani and Mr. A.B.Vajpayee, Mr. ajit Jogi said,
that first it was the RSS and now even Mr. Bal
Thackery had begun to remote
control this govt.
Mr. Jogi referred to the govt.'s assertion that the ISI was behind
the state of the blasts and violence against the minorities and
said that it had failed to produce a white paper on the ISI as promised
by. Mr. Advani when he look over as minister. What had happened
to the white paper, Mr. Jogi asked.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee's latest offer of talks with NC leader Farooq
Abdulla, following the Union Cabinet's rejection of the State Assembly's
autonomy resolution, was another proof of the govt.'s inconsistency

Gandhi, has urged her party men to remain vigilant specially in
the scheduled next year and to keep an eye on the preparation of
voter lists. The party as decided to hold lamps for active members
of the party throughout the country.
