One-day District Conventions

GIRIDIH : One-day Convention of Congress workers was held in the major districts of Jharkhand in May/June this year. As per the directive of the Pradesh Congress Committee, the conventions were held at Dumri, Bagodar, Jamua, Devri, Birni, Dhanwar, Pirtand, Gandaya and Vegabad and at Giridih.

The Kodarma Lok Sabha constituency MP, Shri Tilak Dhari Singh, who was the chief guest of the convention criticized the Prime Minister of backing out of his pre-poll promise of providing one crore jobs to the unemployed youth. Shri Singh said despite being in power for the last four years, the NDA government has failed in fulfilling their promises.

The BJP-led NDA government had promised a government that would be free of fear, famine and corruption. But when the NDA partners are themselves living in fear, how can they remove fear from the minds of the people? They are all involved in corrupt practices, added Shri Tilak Dhari Pd. Singh.

District Congress president, Dr. Pardyuman Singh, who was the special guest, said the indifferent attitude of the State ministers, the Jharkhand state resulted in lack of any development despite being a wealthy state with rich deposits of minerals. Dr. Pardyuman Singh said that such a government which cares less for its people and the development of the state, be thoroughly exposed and these facts should be brought before the people.

He said the message of the Congress president Smt. Sonia Gandhi, be taken to every village so that the people became aware of these power-hungry leaders who are busy looking after their own welfare. The convention was well-attended by the DCC office-bearers, panchayat workers and Congress activists.
