Blood Donation Camp

BULANDSHAHAR : The Youth Congress workers donated blood at the district hospital here on 21 may on the occasion of the death anniversary of late Shri Rajiv Gandhi under the leadership of Shri Sanjeev Valmiki Lahri, general secretary of the UP Youth Congress. Those who donated blood included Abdul Nafe Ansari, Anjum Rashid, Maulana Zaki, Amrish Verma, Mahipal Saini, Tarun Sharma, Surinder Bhati, Vikas Gupta and Shahid Naqvi. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. D.D. Tyagi supervised the blood-donation camp. July-19

The Bulandshahar City Congress Committee observed this day as an "anti-terrorism day" and its president, Dr. S.D. Sharma, member of the District Congress Steering Committee, Shri Sushil Chaudhary and other participated in the programme.

In Allahabad, members of the State Congress Legislature Party paid tribute to late Rajiv Gandhi under the leadership of Shri Pramod Tiwari. Shri Kishore Varshney, special invitee of the state PCC, conducted the programme.

BJP Pradhans Join Congress

DEHRADUN : Several BJP village pradhans of Uttaranchal have joined Congress recently in the presence of Shri J.P. Pandey, secretary Uttaranchal PCC. They include Shri Vipin Kandari of Ringoli, Shri Darmiyan Singh Bhandari of Talli Ringoli, Shri Agan Ratudi of Papali Chauram, Shri Manoj Joshi of Naithana (Chauram), Shri Sukhdev Singh Pundir of Chiledi (Badipaar), Shri Raju Dimari of Dhanji (Badipaar), Shri Bijendra Panwar of Dhanai (Badipaar), Shri Vinod Rawat of Goni, Shri Hukum Singh Negi of Kothi (Thugnir) and four Panchayat members, Shri Kuldip Negi, Shri Chetram Ratudi, Shri Harish Dangewal and Shri Mahendra Singh Japada. Shri Pandey welcomed the new comers into the Congress Party by garlanding them.

MEGHALAYA

Organisation to be Strengthened

SHILLONG : The AICC general secretary, Shri Salman Khurshid and AICC secretary, Maj. Ved Prakash - both incharge of Meghalaya - made their first-ever visit to the state in June. They visited Tura, Williamnagar and Shillong. Meghalaya PCC president, Shri S.C. Marak, together with PCC functionaries accompanied them to Garo Hills districts. Shri Salman Khurshid and Maj. Ved Prakash addressed a largely attended meeting of district Congress leaders of West Garo Hills DCC and Tura City Congress Committee and BCC presidents at the Congress Bhawan in Tura on 19 June.

The meeting dwelt at length on revamping the party at all levels to meet the challenges of the forthcoming elections to the Autonomous District Councils and to the next Lok Sabha. Shri Salman Khurshid felt that with such a vast potential in natural resources, Meghalaya should emerge as a model state for the whole nation. Maj. Ved Prakash strerssed strengthening the party. They visited Williamnagar on 20 June and also addressed the Congress workers.

On the 21 June, they visited Shillong, where they attended an extended Executive Committee meeting presided over by PCC president, Shri S.C. Marak and which was attended among others by Meghalaya chief minister, Shri D.D. Lapang, his party colleagues in the cabinet, Shri P.R. Kandiah, MP, Meghalaya PCC functionaries and all DCC, BCC leaders. Shri Salman Khurshid underlined the importance of rapid economic development and for setting up their won industries and produce its own items instead of exporting the raw materials
