Political Training Camp Well-attended

HYDERABAD : A 2-day political training programme was organized here on 23rd and 24th June, 2003. Over 700 delegates comprising Block/ Districts presidents, Municipal Corporators, APCC office-bearers based at Hyderabad City office-bearers and the heads of frontal organisations participated. AICC secretary, Shri Ramesh Chennithala addressed the concluding session. Shri Chennithala exhorted the partymen to work unitedly and target the TDP and not their own colleagues. He expressed confidence that the Congress will surely win the next Assembly elections.

The training camp was inaugurated by Shri M. Satyanarayana Rao, president, APCC. He recalled the historical movements of Indian National Congress before and after Independence struggle. Shri P. Shivshankar spoke on the Constitution and enumerated several violations by NDA government. Shri V. Hanumantha Rao spoke on religion mixing politics and on how the present rulers were encouraging chauvanistic, divisive force. Shri Paladugu Venkat Rao asked the partymen to be ever-vigilant in combating the onslaught of the NDA/TDP governments.

Shri Shashidhar Reddy spoke about drought and the unviable policies of the TDP government in bringing Krishna water to Hyderabad. Smt. J. Geetha Reddy spoke on the reservation for women, Shri D. Nagender, MLA lectured on Nagarpalika, Shri Shabbeer Ali detailed on the minority problems and on the efforts of Congress to promote their welfare. Shri M. Kodanda Reddy detailed on unemployment, Shri Janardhan Reddy spoke on the anti-people policies of the TDP. Dr. M. Sridhar explained the challenges ahead of the Congressman, Shri K. Laxminarayan Yadav stressed on unity, Shri K.R. Amose spoke about the discipline within the party, Shri K. Keshav Rao mentioned the need for ideological equipment of the partymen by organizing frequent political classes, Shri P. Sudhakar Reddy, in-charge and general secretary called upon the partymen to be prepared for the forthcoming challenges. Shri A. Chakrapani Yadav, Shri Balapochaiah participated in the deliberations.

In his concluding speech, Shri Ramesh Chennithala, spoke on the latest developments, the communal politics of BJP, the unholy TDP-BJP alliance and its failure on all fronts. The speech was heard with rapt attention and jubilation. He narrated the progress of the party in several states and asked APCC to strive to win the forthcoming Assembly elections. He hailed the historical padayatra by Shri Y.S. Rajshekhar Reddy, CLP Leader. Shri Chennithala distributed certificates to the trainees followed by a Vote of Thanks by Shri R. Laxman Yadav, general secretary, City Congress Committee.

From the City Congress, Sarvasri A. Sanjeeva Narayan, Ashok Singh, Purnandam, Wajid Hussain, R. Balaiah, Narayan Swamy, T. Niranjan, Tiwari, N. Madhusudhan Gupta, Satyanarayana, Ajay Kumar, G. Anjaiah, Prakasa Rao, Yadaiah Yadav, G. Narender Yadav, Prem Bajaj, T. Rajeshwar, G.B. Shaym Rao shared their experiences with the participants.

The Camp was the first to be held in Andhra Pradesh and was successful in many ways. The interaction of the participants revealed the enormous confidence of the partymen.

MS Consoles Warangal Rail Mishap Victims

HYDERABAD : APCC president, Shri M. Satyanarayana Rao, visited Warangal and enquired about the railway accident and consoled the victims and their families and demanded immediate announcement of ex-gratia. Alongwith the APCC president, Dr. T. Kalpana Devi, former Parliament member, PCC vice-president, Shri B. Sariah, MLA Shri Gandra Venkat Ramana Reddy, Warangal DCC president, Dr. H. Rama Devi, Warangal City Congress Committee president, Shri T. Sammi Reddy, PCC Media Department Convenor and others also participated on the occasion.

Atrocities on Dalits Discussed

HYDERABAD : A meeting was held here on 20 June to discuss the atrocities on dalits and to plan the Mandal level training programme by the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee Scheduled Caste Department. AICC SC Department chairman, Shri G. Venkatswamy and APCC president, Shri M. Satyanarayana Rao were the chief guests.

About 300 executives from all over the state, right from district chairman down to executive members from all districts, mandal and cities attended the meeting. Apart from Shri Venkatswamy, other who addressed the meeting were Andhra Pradesh Mahila Congress president, Smt. Geetha Reddy, Shri K.S.R. Murthy, ex-MP, PCC Secretary, Shri G. Vinod, PCC general secretary, Shri Bunga Saradhi.

In one of the resolutions passed, the APCC SC Department expressed thanks to the Congress president, Smt. Sonia Gandhi and AICC SC Department Chairman, Shri G. Venkatswamy for appointing Shri G.B. Shyam Rao as the APCC SC Department chairman.
