The Congress Party is ready with its political charter for the forthcoming elections. The Shimla Vichar Manthan where it was formulated witnessed in-depth discussions by the participants on the comprehensive agenda set for the Shivir. The Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, had set the tone for the conclave calling for an all out attack on communalism and fundamentalism. Her trenchent criticism of the BJP-led NDA government which failed on all fronts totally and miserably was reflected in the Shimla Sankalp that was adopted at the three-day Shivir. In her spirited opening address and the concluding remarks Smt. Gandhi called upon the party’s rank and file to take part in the ideological battle to save the nation from the misrule of the BJP-led NDA regime. The Party will organise Jan Jagaran Abhiyan all over the country to expose the regime at the Centre. The Shimla Sankalp reiterated the Congress policy of unity of secular forces and parties to foil the machinations of communal and fundamentalist elements. The electoral battle has begun.
