TRIBUTE
PAID TO MAHATMA
JAMMU:
Leading the people of Jammu and Kashmir in paying homage
to Mahatma Gandhi on his martyrdom day, Governor Lt. Gen.
(Retd.) SK Sinha on 30 January said that while professing
non-violence, Gandhiji firmly believed in opposing aggression
with valour.
After
paying floral tributes at the statue of the Father of the
Nation at Deewan-e-Aam at Darbargarh here the Governor recalled
accompanying General Carriapa to Harijan basti at Delhi.
Paying
tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Governor recounted the words
of the famous scientist, Albert Einstein, “the people will
wonder how a person like him in flesh and blood came to
this earth.”
The
Governor exhorted young school children to imbibe the spirit
of ‘Sabermati ke Sant’ and spread it in the society. ‘The
best tribute to Gandhiji would be to promote brotherhood,
respect for all religions and spread peace’, he added.
On
the occasion, thousands of school children and elders took
a pledge to propagate Gandhiji’s message of peace and non-violence.
The General Secretary of Akhil Bhartiya Rachnatmak Samaj,
Shri SP Verma described General Sinha as a votary of restoring
peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The participants vowed to work
as his ambassadors for taking the message of peace to every
home.
Tributes
to L. B. Shastriji
Indore:
The Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress and the Shastri Sewa Samiti
organised programmes on the 39th death anniversary of former
Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri here on 11th January.
The statue of Shastriji, situated at the Shastri Chowk,
was garlanded by the city Mayor, Smt Uma Shashi Sharma and
many others. The vice-chief of Ramakrishna Mission, Swami
Uprakhanandji Saraswati, Shastri Sewa Samiti president and
Pradesh Youth Congress Committee general secretary, Shri
Shyam Garg, Shri Dilip Kaushal ,corporator, Shri Mohan Kesari,
Shri Umesh Lothe and Shri Jagadish Pandey all talked about
Shastriji’s patriotism, honesty and dedication.

Tragedy: Sonia Gandhi Expresses Grief
New
Delhi: The Congress president Smt. Sonia Gandhi on
26th January expressed deep grief over the death of
hundreds of people in the stampede at Wai in Maharashtra
on 25th January.
In
her condolence message Smt Gandhi said it was the
duty of both the state Government and all the citizens
to help the injured and share the grief of those who
have lost their close relatives.
