Letter
to Congress Workers
Cadre
Must Observe Discipline
Smt.
Sonia Gandhi's call to Congressmen not to lose nerve due
to setback in the recent assembly polls but work with confidence
to face future challenges is very encouraging and timely.
No doubt the party must pull up the socks. But that would
demand some discipline in the party. Being a liberal party,
freedom to express views is justified, but it should not
cross limits and become counter-productive. The no-holds-barred
infighting amongst Congressmen in some states like Punjab,
Delhi, Kerala and Uttaranchal hardly helps the party's objectives.
This gives liverage to our opposition rivals who make full
use of it in tarnishing the image of the party should be
avoided and work for party unity and its progress. Party
leaders must express their divergent opinions, if any, in
party forums, not in public.

Unity,
Need of the Hour
First
of all my new year greetings to the Congress president,
Smt. Sonia Gandhi and all senior and prominent national
and state leaders. Secondly, I would like to suggest that
in view of the Lok Sabha elections we should ignore our
differences and come together and fight our rivals at the
hustings. We have witnessed the result of our differences
and inner-party rivalry during the recent Assembly elections
where the Congress faced defeat. Therefore, I once again
request all our state and national leaders to direct their
forces for party's victory rather than working for their
own petty vested interests.

Set
Aside Rivalries and Unite
Congress
workers at all levels should come together to make the party
more strong leaving aside their personal rivalry. They should
give up personal ambitions and should work in the direction
of making the slogan "Congress ka Haath, Garibon ke
Saath" given by our inspiring, dedicated and far-sighted
Congress president, Smt. Sonia Gandhi. To make this a reality
we have to go to the villages and save the party from the
opportunists. We have to encourage our dedicated party workers
and bring all secular parties together as desired by the
Congress president. I am sure we shall be successful in
our mission. The people are fed-up with the BJP-led NDA
Government. They are looking towards the Congress party
and Smt. Sonia Gandhi.

Positive
Appeal
I
appeal, looking forward to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections,
efforts should be made to make our organizational set-up
more strong. This also includes making the booth committee
strong. It is also essential that Congress workers and leaders
should do introspection and give up the path of internal
confrontation and to work in cohesion to make the party
strong. They also should make the people aware of the party
achievements. By following the inspiration, determination
and farsightedness of our Congress president, Smt. Sonia
Gandhi, we shall be able to reach people in every nook and
corner of the country and only then the Congress will come
to power in states and at the Centre.

Honour
Partymen
Congress
is a national party but it has been seen that leaders of
the party have played the role of defeating their own party
candidate during elections. Would the Congress president
take note of it? In my opinion the workers of the party
who had gone to jail for supporting Smt. Indira Gandhi 25
years ago should be honoured in respective state capitals.
In doing so, the party workers will feel encouraged and
infuse in them a new energy to work for the prosperity of
the party. This should be done prior to the Lok Sabha elections.

Objectionable
Statement
Terming
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as the last ruler of the British
Raj by RSS leader, Shri K.C. Sudershan is highly objectionable.
His statement is insulting to the memory of Pandit Nehru
and the people of India. Pandit Nehru's contribution had
been acknowledged by everyone including Mahatma Gandhi.
His unquestionable patriotism and nationalist outlook paved
the way for establishing a self-reliant economy and non-aligned
foreign policy. To cast aspersions on him means casting
aspersions on oneself!
