Tributes
to Mahatama Gandhi, Shastri, Kamaraj
PONDICHERRY:
The birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Lal Bahadur
Shastri was celebrated here at the Congress Party Office
on 2 October.
The death anniversary of
Perum Thaloivar Kamaraj was also organised which also falls
on 2 October. A prayer meetings were held and floral tributes
were paid to the portraits of Mahatama Gandhi, Lal Bahadur
Shastri and Kamraj. The function was attended by the Chief
Minister, Shri N. Rangasamy and other ministers and the
Congress leaders and the members of the frontal organisations.
Food packets were distributed to the poor and patients of
the Leprosy Hospital. The Youth Congress conducted shramdan
and tree sapplings were planted in the area.
The Giridih District Congress
Committee workers paid floral tributes by garlanding the
portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru. The function was organised
by the DCC president, Dr. Pardhuman Kumar Singh.
In Allahabad, UPCLP leader Pramod Tewari,
former Union Minister, Mr. Ram Poojan Patel, UPCC vice-president,
Dr. Reeta Bahuguna Joshi, Mr. Ram Yagya Dwivedi, Kishore
Varshney, Ram Kirshna Srivastava and many others paid tributes
to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.
