Indira Gandhi Integration Award

JAMMU : Renowned educationist and social activist, Mrs. Pushpa Chawala of Jammu is selected for this year’s prestigeous Indira Gandhi Integration Award.

Her name was selected amongst the various contenders by a screening committee headed by Dr. Taran Singh. It was announced here by Shri S.P. Verma, state president ABRS while celebrating birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi.

The award is instituted by ABRS J&K which is presented every year to a reputed woman who works amongst the people selflessly and dedication in accordance with theprinciples laid down by Smt. Indira Gandhi. The award shall be presented to her soon.

The Indian Youth Congress president opening a special convention in Kochi

Congressman is Kochi Dy. Mayor

KOCHI : The UDF candidate, Shri T.J. Vinod, on 20 November wrested the Deputy Mayor’s post from the LDF in the Kochi Corporation. It is after nearly 23 years that a Congressman has become the deputy mayor of the Kochi Corporation which otherwise was held by the Left Front.

KOCHI: A Youth Congress state-level convention was held here on 16 October and the theme was "shun communalism-Banish Corruption." While addressing the youth Indian Youth Congress President, Shri Randeep Singh Surjewala, called upon them to fight the "extremism of thought and culture" being superimposed by outfits like RSS, Shiv Sena, NDP and others annointing themselves as the sole repository of religious values.

Others who addressed the youth included AICC secretary, Shri Ramesh Chennithala, KPCC president and MP, Shri K. Murlidharan, State Youth Congress president, Shri K.P. Anilkumar and the convention was attended by state party MLA’s and party functionaries.
