Pranab Mukherjee Visits Andamans

PORT BLAIR: All India Congress Committee Member, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, made a two day visit to Andaman Nicobar islands from 25 October in the capacity of Chairman, Consultative Committee on Home Ministry.

Shri Pranab Mukherjee was accompanies by the Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) acting president, Shri Jagnarayan and the ANTCC general secretary, Shri B.K. Chakraborty. Shri Mukherjee visited the Gandhi Bhawan, the Congress Office in Port Blair where he was given a guard of honour by the Congress Sewa Dal workers under the leadership of Shri Noor Islam, chief organiser, and was introduced to all the office-bearers of the District Congress Committee, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, City Congress, Congress Sewa Dal and other party workers present there.

Shri Mukherjee, while addressing the party workers, explained the current political situation prevailing in the country and informed that under the dynamic leadership of the Congress president, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, the party has returned to power in 15 states. Shri Mukherjee appealed to all the Congress workers to work unitedly for strengthening of the Congress party so that in future, when the elections are held, our party candidates could win elections in Andaman.

Chetna Rally to Protest Chautala's Misdeeds

GURGAON: The growing political-criminal nexus which has reached and proclaimed offenders openly move about and attend public functions with chief minister Om Prakash Chautala and his sons. Subjugation of dalits and backward classes by Shri Chautala’s henchmen has become a regular affair. Latest was the brutal lynching of five dalits in Jhajjar.

To highlight this criminal activities which is being patronised by Shri Chautala and his sons, the Indian Youth Congress, led by its president, Shri Randeep Singh Surjewala, held a "Chetna Rally" at the Ramlila Grounds here on 19 October. Shri Surjewala, while addressing the rally, said that the moment the Congress government comes to power in Haryana, Shri Om Prakash Chautala and his sons will be behind the bars. Either Chautala should change his attitude or he will be thrown out of power.

Shri Surjewala said that Shri Chautala has backedont from fulfilling the poll promises made to the people. He had promised to give farmers free electricity and water but the farmers are now paying for this through their nose which has left them in poverished.

Others who addressed the gathering were AICC general secretary, Shri Mukul Wasnik, AICC Secretary, Ms. Sushila Tiria and others.
