The Gujarat Assembly election results have com as a shock
to the entire nation. Practically every section of the media
in every corner of the country expressed serious apprehensions
over the emergence of Hindutva as an election plank. The
BJP, especially Narendra Modi played the Hindutva card so
blatantly during the entire election campaign, the fear
in everyone’s mind is if the BJP is going to follow the
same ugly and partisan approach in the Assembly elections
slated for next year. There is also widespread concern that
the BJP victory may spark off communal problems in the country.
Congress workers will have to be vigilant and actively educate
the public about such unfortunate events.
