Rally Against Dhumal Govt. Policies
BILASPUR
:
A mammoth rally was organised here by the district Congress
Committee, Bilaspur to protest against the anti-people and
anti-poor policies of the BJP-led State Government. The
rally was attended by thousands of people from different
parts of the Bilaspur district as well as from other districts
of the state.
Addressing
the rally, the Pradesh Congress Committee president, Mrs.
Vidya Stokes, called on partymen to unite and oust the BJP-led
State Government, which was "mired in corruption from
top to bottom". Mrs. Stokes highlighted the problem
of rehabilitation of Bhakhra Dam oustees and the failure
of the BJP government to settle it.
The
PCC chief also alleged gross irregularities in the signing
of Memorandum of Understanding of hydro projects by the
Dhumal Government. She questioned the State Government on
the cancellation of 5 hydle MoU’s in Chamba recently and
alleged that this was done to accommodate favourites of
the State Government. She condemned the Government for rising
unemployment and alleged that the Government was making
recruitment on extraneous considerations instead of merit.
Mrs.
Stokes launched a scathing attack on Health Minister J.P.
Nadda who represents Bilaspur constituency and demanded
a CBI probe into ‘Health Scam’ adding that an impartial
inquiry by state agencies could not be expected as fingers
had been pointed towards ruling party politicians in this
regard.
Mrs.
Stokes pointed out that the BJP State Government has failed
to control the price rise of essential commodities like
kerosene oil, LPG and fertilisers. The people are fed up
with the price rise and want a change. The PCC president
criticised the State Government for levying users charges
in Government Hospitals which has imposed a back-breaking
burden on the rural poor.
She
expressed anguish over the handling of the law and order
situation in the state.
Former
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Ram Lal called upon
the partymen to unite so that the Congress could give a
befitting reply to the BJP in the next Assembly elections.
The
AICC Spokesman, Sh. Anand Sharma, said that the country
needed a strong leadership due to the role it was expected
to play in the present critical international situation,
adding that the BJP Government was not able to perform due
to its "involvement in internal conflicts of the NDA
and RSS-BJP". The rally was also addressed by other
senior leaders of the Congress.
