Greetings

The 54th anniversary of Independence produces mixed feelings. While we are happy that democracy has taken deep roots in the country and that it has become a shining example of a pluralistic society, we are also unhappy that forces that seek to destablise the most revered political system and social fabric are as active as ever. India today ranks among the top ten industrialised nations and is expected to emerge as one of the top markets of the world. The tremendous strides it has made in Information Technology, education and science brought India laurals it richly deserves. The BJP's attempts to misuse power to saffronise education to indoctrinate children is highly condemnable. The BJP will not be allowed to succeed. The Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, has warned the BJP-led government at the Centre to give up its nefarious game. She also reiterated the Congress party's motto : Daridra Narayan Seva.

Congress Sandesh has completed three years on 15th August. The Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, launched the journal on 15th August, 1998 with the aim of creating a live medium for interaction within the party. "We want Sandesh to become the platform where any reader can share his or her views and debate his or her opinions with others in the party". The Sandesh has tried to live upto this ideal and will continue to do so in future.....

`Saffronization of Education will be Resisted'
It is a matter of deep regret and disturbing too that religious revivalism appears to be the motive force for the secretive and non-consensual approach, resorted to by the BJP-led NDA government, says Mrs. Sonia Gandhi warning that the Congress will not let the government get away with ideological sleights of hand.....
