People's Expectations

The self-confidence, clean image and good leadership of Smt. Sonia Gandhi with her bold policy programmes and directions has created history in Indian politics. People are looking to her to give a clean and people-friendly administration which is free from corruption. Only then the Congress tri-colour will be flying high from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Also, by re-enacting the 75th anniversary of the Dandi march, the Congress has once again rekindled Mahatma's spirit of truth, non-violence, sacrifice and dedication

Act of Cowardice

The attack on April 6 on the Tourist Reception Centre in Srinagar, where the passengers travelling on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus were housed, was cowardly. But the will of the passengers to travel despite high security risk was commendable. The India-Pakistan peace process has isolated the militants. Unable to sustain their militancy, they are indulging in desperate acts.

Needless Vote Splitting

I am in receipt of the March issue of the Congress Sandesh and I was very much impressed by the thought provoking editorial which has boldly brought out reasons for the diminishing Congress seats in the recent Assembly elections.

It is high time the Congress party seriously thinks about consolidating its party base in Hindi-speaking areas, particularly in Uttar Pradesh if it wants to avoid a situation created in Bihar and Jharkhand. Statistics reveal that wherever like-minded parties fought elections away from the Congress, the loser was Congress despite getting more percentage of votes than the BJP. This fact has been witnessed in Haryana too where the Haryana Vikas Party merged into Congress and fought elections against their rival Indian National Lok Dal which was defeated convincingly.

Source of Inspiration

The December issue of Sandesh is very attractive and inspires party workers. The article on Smt. Sonia Gandhi is very realistic and no doubt is a source of inspiration. Indians and even the people all over the world are impressed and trust the leadership of Smt. Sonia Gandhi. I am very much thankful to the Editor of Sandesh and writer of the article Shri Anil Shastri and his team not only for this article but also for bringing out such a beautiful magazine to publicise the party work across the country. I also appreciate Soniaji for her role in Tsunami disaster relief. Finally partymen of Uttar Pradesh congratulate the Congress President for appointing, Shri Salman Khursheed as the president of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee.

Sandesh Impressive

I have gone through February issue of the Congress Sandesh and was very much impressed. The valuable news and contents are beneficial for Congress workers. The article by Dr. Ravni Thakur is very encouraging for the Congressmen.

India-China ties

The visit of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will go down in the history of India-China relations as significant. The countries have come closer to each other in a very long time. There was progress on many issues including India's bid to the Security Council membership, strategic partnership and the boundary dispute. Let us hope the two nations are able to build their friendship on mutual trust for peace and progress in the region.
